Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated’s mission is “Service to All Mankind”. Epsilon Omicron Omega’s programs are inspired by a dedicated investment of human capital and a bold commitment to the principles of basic human rights. Awareness, advocacy and action are the primary vehicles for the delivery of our service initiatives.
Union Baptist Breakfast Program
Jesus answered, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never hunger, and whoever believes in Me will never thirst.” (John 6:35)
The mission of the Union Baptist Church Breakfast Ministry is “to feed when there is a need and to bring the Word of the Lord.” Epsilon Omicron Omega supports their mission as well as our program initiatives by serving breakfast and disseminating health related materials and supplies.
Members of Epsilon Omicron Omega volunteer on the second Saturday of every month (except where noted on our calendar) at the Union Baptist Church of Hartford’s Breakfast Program.
Community Garden
Community gardens are a return to the “common” or the central place in a city or town where people could graze livestock or plant vegetables. Although the true “town common” is now typically a park for recreational activities, community gardens are neighborhood lots that are used by the area residents for growing vegetables, flowers and/or fruits. They beautify and enhance a neighborhood, provide food and are a vehicle for fostering community self-reliance and the opportunity to meet and connect with neighbors.
Epsilon Omicron Omega participates in the Huntington Community Grarden at 37 Huntington Street in Hartford. In the past, we successfully grew collard greens, tomatoes, peppers and herbs.
